The Threat From Religious Radicals

"What kind of religion is it that expects another religion will be destroyed?" - Gershon Solomon, spokesman for Jerusalem's Temple Institute

What kind, indeed, yet that religious supremacy is exactly what Gershon Solomon and thousands like him believe when it comes to the alleged “final battle” in Biblical prophecy. Whether it is a sword-wielding Jesus who comes to destroy all non-believers or a well-dwelling Mahdi who scours the planet of evil, the major religions are readying for a showdown to see which messiah can beat the other messiahs back to Earth.

As if humans didn’t have enough to worry about with global warming, terrorist attacks, or flu epidemics, these radical evangelicals from all religions pose a new kind of threat. They are conspiracy theorists of the highest order and also the worst kind. They aren’t content to merely postulate what might happen should their obscure and vaguely interpreted prophecies take place. They are actively trying to make them happen.

Aside from the ludicrous notion we should have to fear messianic vengeance, the real threat is what lengths they will go to in order to achieve their goal of an end-time, all out war of humanity. The prophecies in question are bloody enough in their predictions of pestilence and famine, not to mention the numerous wars which will kill off billions of people. These evangelicals see death and destruction as merely means to an end of their god triumphing over all others.
