Damn Right Cut and Run

From an article found here:

President Bush said critics of his Iraq policies are advocating a "cut and run" strategy that would draw terrorists to American soil.

"Leaving before we complete our mission would create a terrorist state in the heart of the Middle East, a country with huge oil reserves that the terrorist network would be willing to use to extract economic pain from those of us who believe in freedom," Bush said Wednesday.
"If we leave before the mission is complete, if we withdraw, the enemy will follow us home," he said.

Allow me to lift a mighty ball-sack onto the table and say "damned right, cut and run".

Let's face it. America is getting its ass handed to it daily in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Why? For exactly the same reason a bunch of farmers were able to turn away the most powerful empire on the planet back in the 18th century.

Arrogance of power.

We have the most powerful military in the world, aside from Israel and China. Salvaging what little respect and manpower we still have, bring the troops home and forego any notion that a "war on terror" has an attainable outcome. It's simply ludicrous and costly in both resources and human life on both sides.

Will it bring "terrorists" or whatever that word means to our soil?

Maybe, maybe not. We are a hard country to hit. Before 9/11, which was nearly a decade in the planning and preparation stages the worst terrorist attack was carried out by American citizens who legally rented a Ryder truck and blew up a federal building.

So, let them go ahead and try. Allow America to enter the reality the rest of the world has had to face for nearly a century. Our population is among the most heavily armed on the planet, gun-nut complaints notwithstanding.

Worried about a terrorist attack on our soil? Suck it up and take some responsibility for your own safety, if it should come to that. Otherwise, shut the hell up and stop sending innocent kids off to die for the alleged purpose of protecting your right to go to the corner grocery in your SUV without the same fear of a rocket attack so many people in this world live with on a daily basis.
