The Rise of Sarah Palin

While I have previously stated I would be here more often, time and events conspired to keep me from that promise. However, the build-up of words inside me, especially in this political season, has topped the levee, so to speak.

Specifically, I refer to Sarah Palin and her rise to the national scene by being chosen as John McCain's VP running mate. Even Barack Obama hasn't enjoyed a faster meteoric rise to fame as Palin has since emerging as an unknown onto the stage.

However, her sudden appearance created a vacuum of information we are normally used to having about potential and existing candidates. The fact she hails from remote Alaska also meant a lull of time before anything could be learned about here.

As the information has trickled in, one thought has creeped from the back of my mind and toward a prominent position in my thoughts on the coming election: Sarah Palin is a scary, scary person.

The portrait of the woman we see from Alaska is one of complexity, someone who rode to power out of no where on petty issues to now find herself standing next to a United States Senator and eyeing the White House. Her cult-like Christian religion, her ties to secessionist parties in Alaska, the corruption of her office, and scandals swirling around her family all bring into focus a person I do not want to see anywhere close to the Presidency.

Thus, finding myself with some unexpected but appreciated time on my hands, I intend to present a clearinghouse of information about Palin on this site, in addition to further research and posts on religion, focusing in on the disturbing ties to the Dominionist movement Palin's churches have and had.
